Indie Ales – Our Beers

You should know that most great beer is made and consumed locally so it’s always fresh for the consumer. We use the best ingredients we can source, combined with our independent mindset and disdain of traditional beer making rules, the Indie Alehouse is able to produce small-batch handcrafted ales that offer an independent personality – the antithesis of a mass-produced bland industrial beer.

We are not for everyone, and we’re really happy about that.

In addition to our regular offerings we also make seasonal and special release beers – so check back often and subscribe to our newsletter to see what’s new at the Indie Alehouse.

Regular Beers On tap (while supplies last)

  • Instigator Pale Ale: west coast style IPA – “As bitter as I am.” JF

A key beer in the craft beer revolution. IPAs were originally made in the 1800’s in England with extra hops and alcohol to survive the long sea voyage from England to India for the troops there and became so popular for the refreshing bitter taste that the rest of the world soon caught on. When home brewers started experimenting in the 1970’s and 80’s this style led the way and today it is the most popular style of craft beer. Ours is an ‘homage to those first craft brewers that went looking for trouble.

  • Bad Influence: Double Black IPA – Waaay more Trouble than you can handle.

For hopheads, hops are good and more hops are better. This is a BIG, Strong beer. You need to have your big-boy or big-girl pants on to have this one. If you are happier at TGI McFunsters or a boy-band concert, back away from this beer and let your grown up friends enjoy.

  • The Belgian Barnyard: Belgian Style IPA – The advanced credit beer for the gifted class only.

Directly following no known rules or styles, but yet in the tradition of big tasting Belgian beers. Made with a rare Flemish yeast and some English and German hops, it’s what free trade should be doing for us but isn’t. Like with most Belgian beers, having an appreciation for the best things in life helps when drinking this beer.

  • God Save the King: “Imperial Mild” – an easy drinking British style ale.

Far easier to drink than it should be. Bumped up to 4% alcohol, our “Imperial” mild has a few other hidden treasures. Made with British malts and hops it’s like a cobble stone road in your mouth

  • Wit and Wild: An unfiltered Belgian Wheat Ale – Lots of sweet orange and spicy hops flavour

The most popular summer beers style now enjoyed year round. Made with subtle spices and orange flavours, this Belgian Wheat style ‘Wit” beer is an easy choice for “I don’t really like beer” drinkers

  • Leadership Qualities: Breakfast Porter – It’s never too late to start the day off right

A rich sweet malty beer balanced with hops and dark chocolate and oats, made with “milk” for a smooth full taste. Not just for breakfast!
